Mission
Alamo City Performing Arts Association is dedicated to inclusive education in the art of dance, theater and music; in order to help instill and perpetuate a genuine appreciation of the performing arts in our community through educational and performance opportunities alongside professional artist. It is our initiative to support Alamo City Dance Company, Alamo City Symphony Viva and Heart of Texas Concert Band productions and education through Alamo City Arts Academy.
Notes from the nonprofit
Alamo City Performing Arts Association has performed many school lecture demonstrations in various styles of dance throughout San Antonio and surrounding counties. Additionally, we have collaborated with other non-profits in helping to promote the arts. We regularly invite other non profit organizations to our performances where we reserve 20% of our seating for this. In 2018 we did a sensory friendly Nutcracker that included individuals of the spectrum, teamed with our dancers. At the end of 2018 Symphony Viva merged with us and they now perform at the ballets and have their own season. 2021 we have added on the Alamo City Arts Academy, so that we can train aspiring dancers in the multitude of disciplines that we offer. Additionally Heart of Texas Concert Band merged with us.

Data
- We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
- We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
- We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
